Where to Go Ice Skating in Szczecin

The Best Features of the Ice Rinks in Szczecin

Lodowisko Szczecin Ice Skating Rink

Lodowisko Szczecin is the only rink on the right side of Szczecin. If you feel like the location is a little far, know that the ice quality is worth the travel time. The ice at Lodowisko Szczecin is the best ice in the city: smooth, level, and sand free!

For those of you travelling by car, there is quite a bit of parking available around the skating rink. You can enter the Lodowisko Szczecin through the front gate, pay for a ticket (choose from 30 min, 1 hour, or even a whole day) and receive a card to scan to enter the skating rink. This system allows you to pay for an hour and truly skate for an hour. If you are skating for longer than you originally paid for then you pay for the additional skating time when you return you card as you exit. The rink also has a regular, posted ice regeneration schedule to maintain the high ice quality that they are known for. Frequent updates to Facebook and their website alerts customers to holiday hours, ice conditions, and private bookings.

Lodowisko Szczecin aims to be a completely covered, year-round ice-skating facility in the future. Currently, the ice rink has a permanent roof, bright lighting, and operates during the winter season. Patrons can warm themselves in an indoor area next to a small fire provided health regulations do not prevent indoor gatherings. You can purchase snacks as well as hot or cold beverages from the vending machines inside. Plenty of seating is available outdoors next to the rink in the form of picnic tables and benches for you to rest or lace up your skates. Spectators can easily watch from the boards protected from rain underneath the roof of the rink.

Lodowisko Szczecin is also home to “Sklep Hokejowy” which sells ice skates, rollerblades, and skating equipment all year round. Furthermore, if you are particular of the sharpening of your ice skates, we recommend heading to the Lodowisko Szczecin for their sharpening services.

Szczecińska Gubałówka Ice Skating Rink

Szczecińska Gubałówka Ice Skating Rink is a small, covered rink nestled into a hillside in the neighbourhood of Osów right next to the national forest. Gubałówka is especially enjoyable during the holiday season as it is decorated with Christmas garlands and vintage style string lights providing a warm, holiday atmosphere.

Although Gubałówka Ice Skating Rink has a large parking area, it hardly feels like enough space when the snow falls and the ski hill opens! Many people flock to the area to enjoy skiing, sledding, and the forest trails during the brief snow season in Szczecin. When the ski hill is not open there is plenty of parking for those who would like to travel by car. Be cautious when walking from the parking lot to the ice-skating rink as the hills can be muddy, slippery, and potentially dark depending on the hour. Once you arrive, you can purchase a ticket with cash or card for an hour of skating from the ticket office as well as rent skating equipment.

If you are dressed warmly for your trip to Gubałówka then you will surely enjoy yourself.  Unfortunately, there is no inside area to warm up if health restrictions limit the number of people in the Ticket Office and watching the skaters can be a bit challenging through the opening near the entrance to the ice rink. However, you can purchase hot drinks (coffee, tea, and hot chocolate) to savour outdoors while seated at a bench or picnic table around the ice-skating rink while you take in some fresh air.

Azoty (Netto Arena) Ice Skating Rink

Azoty Ice Skating Rink is a small ice rink assembled seasonally right next to Netto Arena. Unfortunately, due to the coronavirus pandemic the ice rink was not constructed during the 2020-2021 season. Fortunately, the ice rink will open from December 2021 to March 2022 but the ice rink is expected to be smaller than previous years.

This area of the city was recently under construction so the roads are brand new! Ample parking (remember to register your vehicle inside the rink for two hours of free parking), well-lit sidewalks, and proximity to public transit make this skating rink easily accessible. Spectators can watch ice skaters by standing along the boards or enjoying the comfortable seating at the concession stand which sells food (including nachos, fruit medleys, and even waffles!), snacks, and hot and cold beverages.

Azoty Ice Skating Rink has colourful, spinning lighting, and music playing during free skating. It can be especially busy on weekends and the ice quality is difficult to maintain with so many skaters and scheduled hourly skate times. The entire rink, ticket and equipment rental office, benches, and concession stand are indoors so you don’t have to worry about rain or wind. A small selection of lockers are available for those who would like to lock up their belongings while skating.
