Support Ice Hockey in Szczecin, Poland
The Szczecin Northstars are facing financial challenges that prevent our players from regularly practicing and playing ice hockey.
We are attempting to raise funds to reduce the cost of ice rentals by 50% and provide travelling players with some financial support.

Burdened by Rental Costs
Currently, Szczecin does not have a publicly funded/city-owned ice rink and we are not able to rent ice at a reasonable cost. In fact, an hour ice rental in Szczecin is around three times the price of that in Canada due to privatization; this season the price of an hour ice rental has more than doubled! We ask for your donations to help us make ice hockey accessible to our players and prevent families from being financially burdened by the rising rental costs.

Refusal of Ice Rentals
The ice rinks in Szczecin are often not willing to rent ice times during evenings and weekends which prevents our players from training regularly. Public skating opportunities are deemed by rinks to be more profitable. We believe that that it is short sighted to dismiss the potential of a growing ice hockey community which improves the quantity and quality of ice skaters. Your support will make the cost of renting ice more affordable while we lobby the City of Szczecin to build a permanent, indoor ice rink for the public.

Travel to Play
As the only ice hockey program in the voivoidership (province), we must travel long distances to provide our players with opportunities to play ice hockey against other teams. The expense of travel, both in terms of cost and time, can impede our players ability to attend tournaments and games with other teams. A portion of donations will go directly to supporting travelling players and renting ice when available within Szczecin for hockey games.
